Some interesting ideas here ... but what i miss most is a chat chanel only for officers/leader, because lots of times theres stuff that must be discussed only by officers and leader or a chat that leader had the option of add who he want for it ... ususaly i sort that stuff on Guild forum but if that could be possible in game would be usefull

I'm surely not against that. We usually sort it through quick meetings because we're a small guild (we're 31 ATM) and we're not a drama guild (I think our last "issue" was that a member was growing annoying and it ended by a quick PM between the officers online at the time, and the leader). Do we really need it? No. But it would be useful, I have to agree to that, and I bet it would help some guilds to improve communication between officers.

Anyone who was there when Factions came out probably remember the old alliance chat; I was happy that it opened to everyone in the guild, but I do realize that it could be implemented; much like the party search was implemented. It could be a chat box separated from the normal chat box, so that it doesn't rub it in the reg. members' faces.

I'd really love to see a list of online members in other guilds in your alliance, and a middle between "guest" and "membership".

However, I'm not really in for the different officer spots... I don't know. I'm pretty much considered the "head officer" of my guild - I just don't need any other stuff to "prove" my status, and I highly doubt my guild leader will promote someone who won't be able to recruit, or to kick when needed.

Something that I think would rock to be able to do is when choosing your guild hall, one of the options would be to create your own. You can set it up however you like and put things here and there.

It would cost the same as buying a guild hall

Things that i most agree with:
1)Having a ranking system. My guilds have literally been all kicked by a single officer @least 3 times. At least one was a lack of "filtering" on my part, but in general, I want a system implemented where they can't kick, just recruit. With a ranking system I would also like to see an assigned status by the GL(guild leader) for members who need frequent help, maybe setting them up into groups.
2)I saw a suggestion on "GL and officers only" chat system. I would love this. It is too hard to get all the officers in the same area at the same time, then have a meeting. It would be much easier to have a "conference" where they can still keep going with their own business.
3)It is becoming extremely necessary to have a "guild vault" where items for activities, prizes, etc. are stored along with money. A permission status must be set up also.
4)The idea of having armor/weps/shields with the guild emblem on there would be great.
5)Having a discout for ALL that money we put into guild halls go to a good cause, rather than just another place to buy items.
6)Also, I would like to have the interchangable guild names, capes, and maybe even guild halls.

Most of all, it would be nice to have some feedback posted somewhere on whether any of these ideas have been taken into consideration. It's a lot more encouraging to add input on a matter when someone is on the "other end" taking in the info. and saying it's worth something or will go somewhere.

this would be nice, then when we have officer meetings you dont all have to be in the same place. it also helps so you dont have to quit or wait for someone to finish what they are working on.

different officer ranks are a nice idea but can also be unneeded, depending on how you look at it. Officer duties and rules are clearly stated and told to officers right before i promote them. There arent many rules but at least they know a head of time what is expected or allowed.

I like the idea of things like banners or emblems in the GH, something like a trophy case would be cool. something i do on our forums is a Hall of Fame, and something like that in the GH would be sweet, a lil message board or something that the leader can post stuff for guild (the tiny guild announcment thing sux).

here's out HoF, its still kinda new and in the process of getting more info for it but something like this in the GH would be awesome in game, it doesnt have to be fancy, just something text based is fine.
http://www1.freewebs.com/defendersof...halloffame.htm

being able to see allies roster would be awesome, cuz atm my Friendslist is getting filled with allies names too, i gues i could just ask in the alliance chat if so-and-so is on but that gets old real quick.

i find the best way to keep a guild and alliance running smoothly is by communication. Just having more forms of it would be nice but this goes back to the ever wanted in game mail system, a message or comment board would be nice too.

some of this would be hard but it would just be nice to have in game as a leader, no biggie though, i can get by with what we have but it would make life easier and/or funner.

Other maybe easy to do was that central hall of guild Halls could have the symbol you have in cape maybe on the big circle on floor or a big flag with color and symbol of cape ...

.... a costumized history from guild it would be fun too where leader could post the story and interesting info from the guild so visitors and new members could read it maybe in a monument choosed by leader located in GH .. dont forget some old guilds have very storys to tell to new members and sometimes is boring repeat the story each time a new member join ...

... with all this i come the point of say if whe have HoM for players why cant whe have a Hall Of Monuments for Guild that could jump for gw2 .. im 100% shure that most of the guilds here already have think in move complete guild to GW2 as soon he comes out ... good way for never forget the time whe spended in GW1 ... what can whe input in that HoG (Hall of Guild)? story of guild + GvG awards + 1 small statue for each member name + screenshots of Guild parties or character inserted by leader .... maybe more stuff i cant remember now ...

... only thing i beg is that if GW1 is gona die just let us take with us to GW2 pieces of the great time whe spended here playing to remember to us all and to new members on gw2 the great fun whe had on this past years even if GW2 dont have the sucess of GW1 all i can say is Tx ANET for all your work all over past years

I'd be happy with just being able to see alliance guild rosters. Quick and easy to implement. Should take very few man-hours to accomplish, if that.

Aside from that, would it have killed them to include a real "guild hall" in the guild halls? Make a "room" that has a long table with a "head" on it where the guild leader can "sit" while others take their place on either side. As it stands, guild halls now are more like "guild homes" than "halls."

Love the ideas. Permissions for Officers would come in really handy that way you could set one to be in charge of setting up battles, another to be in charge of recruiting, another one for something else. Could be really useful in extremely large guilds for new members by displaying the rank or title of command next to the Officers name, if they need help in a certain area they know who to contact and don't (hopefully) bug the other officers unneccessarily. (bug's probably not the right word, but you know what I mean.)

Being able to customise the GH by displaying the guild cape as a banner or tapestry sounds awesome. Even if you had to pay x amount of gold for it like with the other NPC's. The addition of a Hero Trainer would also be helpful. Some GH's (like the Undead) are very small though, you might run the risk of feeling cramped if you got too much stuff in there and not much room for players to spawn/move etc.

I like the idea of the Alliance Roster, that would come in handy when trying to set up AB's.

Actually, as far as I recall the Guild cape hangs on the big blank tapestries if the celestial cigil used to buy the Guild Hall was dropped for the leader from the Hall of Heroes chest.

As a few folks have pointed out, visible alliance rosters would be nice. Also...alliance announcements, similar to guild annoucements. I think it would bring alliances closer together and also direct people towards the alliance's forums, IRC, etc.

Default The biggest opportunity in any area of the game itself...

are the suggestions raised by members in this discussion thread.

The number one opportunity to improve the game is to enable better collaborative abilities within the client, for guild members (by guild and by alliance).
  1. Enable alliance roster views to anyone in any guild within the alliance
  2. Provide awareness (who is online, what character class/type are they playing) across the guild and the alliance rosters.
  3. Provide communication features for officers (by guild and by alliance)
  4. Provie rank/class system that is customizeable (by guild and by alliance); allowing members the opportunity to earn priviledges / demonstrating responsibility/accountability for advancement in guild.
  5. Increase announcement text length and provide alliance announcement block of equal text length. This will enable improve communication between leaders and the members. Members (especially new members) must have access to critical pieces of information, allowing them to fully integrate and operate within the guild.
Each of these five components will enable fostering a stronger sense of community, reponsibility and accountability in guild, alliance and game - enhancing the overall experience for the players and enabling better collaboration between them as a result.

Add-on (10/22/2007): The party search feature presently used in towns could be incorporated into the guild or alliance roster. If members want to put together a group to do a function; allow them the ability to advertise within their own guild/alliance. Yes, they can spam the hell out of chat - but then again it's about people connecting and communicating. The recipient will be someone looking to do something and they can use the Party Search to see who is wanting to do an activity, and this function would enable them with awareness, that otherwise is not there. I would think this would help cut down on spam and improve playing teaming in guild/alliance. Just a thought.

Being able to see allies guild rosters would simplify things a great deal. It would make keeping everyone straight heck of a lot easier.

As for having a leader/officer chat, I can see the advantages to that as well. I think it could be very helpful especially if that included all leaders and officers from any given alliance. It can be difficult to get everyone together at any given time, not to mention if something concerning comes up, it could immediately be brought to the attention of all officers and leaders instead of having to explain it over and over on whisper chat.

A guild vault could also be extremely useful providing you could limit access to it. Even if that access was simply limited to officers and leader, that would be acceptable to me. Frankly if you have an officer you don't trust to have access, you should be asking yourself why that person is an officer. We have members that have offered to let their unused character slots be used for just this sort of thing, but that isn't very realistic. If that person isn't online at that moment or is busy doing something, anyone that needs access to the items are just out of luck.

I also second the idea of being able to have alliance announcements in a similar way to the guild announcements. A lot of our alliance members are very active on the forums, but some are not and getting information to them can be more difficult. It would save a lot of time and hassle. Instead of tracking down each and every member, the info would be right there for them when they log in.

I think an extra slot to handle alliance information is good...roster and announcements and so on. That would make things a lot easier.

The guild vault is a bad idea....what happens when someone rages out and steals everything and leaves the guild and runs off? Hate to break it to you, but its online friendships that can be easily taken advantage of and have people rage out for no reason. Its happened a ton...and it has a reason to happen now if a guild vault comes up.

Of course....you can put non-important random crap in there, then I suppose it would be ok...I dunno though. From my experience leading....I wouldnt want to risk it.

-Tiki

Anyways...good thoughts, they would be great to have added in.

An interesting thread this.

Some ideas I really like have already been suggested :
1) an alliance announcement
2) an alliance cape that, along with the guild cape, you choose which to wear
3) seeing your allied guilds rosters
4) a longer guild announcement (my guild tease me I can fit war and peace in there but sadly i can't )
5) A guild version of the players HoH (and even an alliance version too)
6) Have a more detailed rank or class system so that there are more opportunities for members to earn previleges and responsibility. EG of this - I would really like to give 10 or so people permission to be able to start GvG, without creating a list of officers so long that you have scroll down the page to see which members are online.

some new ideas of my own
7) I'd like there to be an alliance hall - a different hall design from the guildhalls - where all guilds in an alliance can meet up and chat. I think it would be good for alliance solidarity. You could have partys there.
8) I'd like anet to encourage guilds to share in the expenses of setting up and running guilds. I dont like that guildleaders get to pay for new halls, because it encourages the materialistic view that a guildleader "owns" the guild. I think a guild is like a country, it belongs to the people, or rather, it belongs to the members (by members I mean everyone).

Someone mentioned having a chat channel for Officers/Leaders only.
I am against any guild officers chat. In an alliance I can see there'd be advantages of it, but I would still be bit wary of it. I believe in an equality between members and officers and gl. Having a officers channel in our guild would give officers access to something that the members don't have access to. In my view it would damage the 'family' atmosphere in our guild. That, plus its a privelege that we don't need. When something happens in our guild that requires an officers decision we sort it out on voicecom.

I'm undecided as to a guild vault. I can see advantages but also potential problems with it.

I had another thought on the matter of guild communication. Yes, I agree with everyone that has said, " Have a communication w/guild leader & officers". Something that would be nice, would be for ArenaNet to incorporate a system where voice/ip would be applicable. Something that would work as a sort of Ventrilo or Xfire. Maybe AN could even charge for it. Either way, a voice/ip system would be something I'd be happy to invest in rather than running it off a diffent program. A package deal.

Or why not just make it so that Officers can't promote anyone? That would solve all problems.
